Home Insurance what to know when buying and selling properties

Whether buying or selling, you need to be aware of what is taking place in the insurance industry and how it is affecting your bank account, home ownership affordability and insurance policy.  I'm not an insurance sales person nor expert, as your Realtor, we see insurance rates affecting clients affordability of home purchases and their home ownership.

As a home owner, if you're seeing your home insurance rates increase, be sure to consult with your home insurance provider to understand your options and make sure you have the best rates and coverage. Be sure to keep records of years upgrades are being done, along with who is doing the upgrades. Make sure to bring in the experts for your plumbing, electrical and strucual projects. Think twice and long term about DIY implications on selling your home and insuranging your home.

When you are looking to buy a new property, engage your insurance provider early in the process to make sure your insurance is affordable, be sure to talk to several providers for the best deal and coverage. Ideally, this is done during the due dilangence phase. Remember, due diligence is designed to help you, the buyer, get the full picture of what you are obligating yourself to. Any questions about the home you have a contract on, ask during the due diligence period!
